On 5 December 2018, the German Institute for Human Rights published its third annual report on the human rights situation in Germany. The report is addressed to the German Bundestag (Section 2, subsection 5, Law on the Legal Status and the Mandate of the German Institute for Human Rights, DIMR-Act).
The third report covers the period 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018. The report is presented on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day on 10 December. The DIMR-Act provides that the German Federal Parliament officially responds to the report.
The report on the human rights situation is based on various sources of information and data. In part, the German Institute for Human Rights conducted its own qualitative studies in addition to the analysis of publicly available data, statistics, documents and studies including official documents by the German Bundestag and the parliaments of Germany’s federal states. Moreover, the Institute conducted interviews with experts and affected persons.
