Human rights dialogue

Many countries and the member states of the European Union engage states with a history of human rights violations in human rights dialogues, presuming that genuine dialogue and real cooperation will lead to significant improvement. These are often complex projects in which concrete critique on individual cases, politics and legal positions is expressed only behind closed doors and between government delegations. At the same time, human rights-related discussions are often held during round tables, and visitor projects or professional exchange among experts working in human rights-sensitive fields, such as prisons or the police.
