Instruments for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights

Human rights are guaranteed in the international human rights treaties. They are legally binding. In addition, there are a number of regional human rights treaties in Europe, Africa, the Americas and the Arab States. The human rights instruments particularly relevant for Germany and for the work of the German Institute for Human Rights are the international human rights treaties and the European human rights protection system.
